You may have heard the word hyperpigmentation and wondered what it was, without knowing that you too have probably encountered it at one point in life or another. That pesky discoloration that appears after a pimple heals, we’ve all experienced it. More importantly, what is it caused by and how can we heal it? Hyperpigmentation is a medical term which is used to describe darker patches of skin. These patches develop from excess stimulation or production of melanin.

Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) can be triggered by a variety of factors; hormones, trauma to the skin such as picking at a pimple, bug bites, burns, acne, etc. If you are a skin type prone to hyperpigmentation, you’ll recognize the tell tale signs. Acne can lead to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation in the form of either brown discoloration or pink discoloration referred to as PIE, or post inflammatory erythema. The good news is that these are not true scars as damage has not occurred deep in the dermis. Although they may seem like scars because they can take 1-2 years to fade if you do nothing. A true scar has a textural difference in the skin, such as an indentation, but if you run your finger next to normal versus scarred skin, you can always feel the difference.

Treatments for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and post inflammatory erythema can include chemical peels strong enough to remove the brown pigment, medical grade lighteners, such as hydroquinone (only available through a dermatologist), and vascular lasers to remove redness from the skin. However, these can be highly involved and costly.

Looking for a more holistic approach to healing your hyperpigmented scars, at a fraction of the cost? We have developed a high quality system specifically to treat dark patches, known as hyperpigmentation. Our  Scar Light Kit can offer astonishing results, over time. This two-step highly effective system works to eliminate hyperpigmented scars.

Cleansing and effective exfoliation occur in  step 1, followed by  step 2, which contains a formula packed with nutrition to heal your hyperpigmentation, as well as botanical skin brighteners, which are clinically proven to penetrate fully into the dermis and to be more effective than hydroquinone to lighten up the skin.

Want to see better results, faster? Consider adding our  Scar Infuser, a titanium needle derma roller with needle size .05 to the mix and even the toughest hyperpigmentation case doesn’t stand a chance. The Scar Infuser helps to obtain optimal infusion of all Scar Food products, by creating micro channels in the skin to allow any serum, cream, or product to maximize impact and encourage collagen production for new skin development resulting in tighter, brighter, and more youthful skin.

The  Scar Light Kit is the perfect combo kit created for any type of hyperpigmentation, including sun damage, and it’s even safe for daily use and pregnant women, due to its all-natural ingredients.
